PE: High School Council

Vision

INSHAPE's High School council visions a state where all children are prepared to lead healthy, physically active lives.

Mission

INSHAPE's High School council represents the interest and needs of physical educators teaching in Indiana high schools. The mission is to advance professional practice and promote health and physical education, physical activity, fitness, dance, and sport.

Objectives

  1. Support membership growth/retention objectives by maintaining an engaged council representing all nine Indiana districts.
  2. Become the primary source for review/updates to the Indiana state standards for middle school physical education.

Goals for 2020

  1. Establish a well-rounded council representing the diverse needs of Indiana High Schools
  2. Lead the development of a robust High School track at the state conference
  3. Work with stakeholders to update state credit flexibility policies so they support state standards and reflect educational best practice.
  4. Recruit at least two candidates for the High School PE TOY.
